1. Keep all our schools open. Closing down schools is not appropriate as a long-term or short-term solution to our budget issues.
2. Keep class sizes at current levels or smaller.
3. Complete the expansion of all-day kindergarten to every elementary school.
4. End our dependence on so-called relocatables, or portable classrooms.
5. Development of on-line classes offered by Bellingham School District.
6. Be completely available to voters, parents, and teachers via telephone, email, and internet.
7. Greater transparency of Administration and Board objectives and decision-making processes.
8. Job security for employees. Teachers should not have to expend energy on worries about contracts and layoffs. They should be free to focus everything on the students.
9. Hiring a new Superintendent who will be fully committed to our community and will fully support the creativity and expertise of our teachers and prinicipals. Progress was made in many areas under Dr. Vedra's administration. We need to keep that momentum for positive change.
