Job security, class size, and budget cuts outside of teachers' salaries. If a teacher is worried about layoffs, or if s/he is asked to assume greater duties at school because of non-teaching staff layoffs, or if s/he is asked to take more students into an already-full classroom, the added stress eventually affects the students.
We ask a lot of our teachers, but if we give them the resources they need, they can accomplish great things.
